Professional connections, continued learning, and service to the college community.
My work at Skyline continues to grow through conversations and shared projects with colleagues. These connections help me explore ideas, learn from others’ experience, and find practical ways to bring new learning opportunities to our community.

Professional collaboration
Ongoing collaboration
Exploring possibilities with Dominique Wu
I work with AI Fellow Dominique Wu to explore how Spatial AI and XR could support teaching at Skyline. Our collaboration connects an introduction to these technologies with planning for faculty learning and further conversations about their use.
One result was the October 7, 2026 Flex Day session for Skyline faculty.
I consulted with Fabiola Torres, an AI Fellow and Ethnic Studies professor at Glendale Community College, about bringing a VR program to Skyline. Seeking advice from a colleague gave me another perspective as I worked through how to introduce immersive learning to our college.
Collaboration across the district
Connecting work across three colleges
Following the completed November 2026 AI & Humanity exhibition at Skyline, I am working with DTLC toward a confirmed district-level expansion in Spring 2027. I am also leading collaboration among librarians at Skyline, Cañada, and College of San Mateo to develop a shared AI and libraries session.
Equity Coach · Equity Scholars Faculty Coaching program
Learning through equity coaching
Through Skyline’s Equity Scholars Faculty Coaching program, I support colleagues in reflecting on their teaching and exploring culturally responsive practices. Serving as an Equity Coach has helped me understand coaching as a two-way learning process. In working with a colleague who brought deep subject expertise and years of teaching experience, I saw an opportunity to explore how familiar teaching materials could include a wider range of perspectives. That conversation immediately brought me back to my own practice: whose experiences do my materials reflect, and who might need a different way into the subject?
Skyline’s diverse community asks us to keep examining those questions. An approach that has worked for years may still leave some students without a meaningful connection to the material. I encouraged my colleague to consider other possibilities and gently challenged familiar choices, with the aim of making their teaching more inclusive. The experience reminded me to bring that same openness to my own work.
Through coaching, I contribute to a culture of reflection at Skyline while continuing to learn from others. Supporting a colleague’s growth also means being willing to reconsider my own practice.
The emerging technology showcase and educational speakers encouraged me to consider what new technologies could offer our community. My VR work has been one way to explore those possibilities at Skyline.
Connecting with educational technology leaders and innovation strategists gave me additional perspectives to consider when selecting technologies and teaching approaches. These conversations inform the possibilities I explore for Skyline.
Attending ASU+GSV and the Futures Summit gave me opportunities to explore emerging educational technologies and learn from people approaching teaching in different ways. These experiences have informed my VR work and my experiments with interactive AI learning games on iPads for the exhibition.
Experiential learning gives these explorations a shared purpose. I believe in edutainment as a way to invite curiosity, play, and participation, with opportunities to reflect on what happens. In my work, I test what technology can offer and consider how it can help students and faculty explore questions and make their own judgments.

Committee & workgroup service
Faculty member · 2026–27
District Teaching and Learning Committee
Through DTLC, I help plan AI literacy awareness activities, including workshops, Flex Day sessions, and programming. This work provides a place to connect ideas across the district and develop opportunities for colleagues to explore AI together.
My participation in the LSP–ERM Work Group connects my digital services work with colleagues across California community college libraries.
Reviewing shared electronic collections, improving access to open educational resources, and developing practical guidance for electronic resources librarians.
I accepted an invitation to join an ad hoc committee focused on understanding faculty experiences, the challenges they face, and the opportunities they want to explore. The committee’s purpose is to help center these perspectives in the Academic Senate’s priorities over the coming years.

Six-week XR/VR Unity program
I am working with Dominique Wu to bring a six-week coding program to faculty, providing an opportunity to learn how to develop XR/VR experiences using Unity.

Spatial AI, XR & Emerging Tech leadership day
I am leading planning with Dominique Wu for a leadership day connecting emerging technology with teaching and learning. Discussions about participation by Skyline’s President’s Office and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office are underway.
